Such disciplines, as well as others like evolutionary anthropology, produced theoretical and positivist analyses based on the Modern Synthesis, on topics which we very well know that cannot be reduced to genetic inheritance. The Extended Synthesis challenges the Modern Synthesis approach, and necessarily challenges the foundations of Sociological and evolutionary psychological research.

Coming from the social sciences but keeping in touch with developments in biology, I have to say that the Modern Synthesis has been used to produce some really poor and pseudo-scientific nonsense that have real social and political implications. Much of what biologists, psychologists, physical anthropologists and psychiatrists have produced using the modern synthesis needs to be rethought from scratch, and research be reevaluated to be able to determine what significance genes actually have in relation to behavior, social structures, crime, mental disorders, sexuality and so on.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16355954.post-81703243730980695502011-01-19T18:30:29.235+00:002011-01-19T18:30:29.235+00:00And an excellent book I got sidetracked from to fi...And an excellent book I got sidetracked from to finish paper on Hayek's The Sensory Order and on spatial economics. This is well covered in Eva Jablonka's account of the "four dimensions of evolution," which is the subject of a post in February, 2010.Larry Arnharthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14619785331100785170noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16355954.post-77005531069424513172011-01-18T21:05:30.793+00:002011-01-18T21:05:30.793+00:00Here's my tiny contribution to evolutionary th...Here's my tiny contribution to evolutionary theory:

http://evolutionandliterature.blogspot.com/Troy Camplinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16515578686042143845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16355954.post-45606210241746407702011-01-18T18:59:05.128+00:002011-01-18T18:59:05.128+00:00What is "non-genetic inheritance"?What is "non-genetic inheritance"?Empedocleshttp://apoxonbothyourhouses.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.com
